Emerging singer songwriter Louise M has released her new single, Escape. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

The Kildare native attended a performing arts school, taking part in numerous stage productions at The Helix in Dublin.

"Growing up, songwriting and improve were the best ways I could express myself and all the (many) emotions you go through as a teenager and young adult," she says.

Louise wrote Escape during "a chapter of her life marked with boredom and dissatisfaction" after she had graduated from college into the uncertainty of a recession and a pandemic, and the job she had envisioned for herself never materialized.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I'm a vocal and piano teacher, I love to perform and write music and I love to travel.

How would you describe your music?

Ethereal pop music heavily inspired by my classical piano training and background in musical theatre.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Whitney Houston, Elton John, Phil Collins, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and RAYE.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

A Girls Aloud concert when I was 11, It was thrilling!

What was the first record you ever bought?

I didn't buy it myself but I was given Miley Cyrus's album Breakthrough when I was 12 and I was obsessed with it.

What's your favourite song right now?

My favourite song right now is probably Ordinary by Alex Warren, probably everyone's favourite still.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"You can do what you want or you can just get old" - Vienna by Billy Joel.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Safe by Daya, It's such a beautiful song.
