Glanmire native Sarah, who released her debut album, Fastener, in late 2024, has played support shows for Irish acts including The Frank and Walters, Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O'Reilly.

Speaking about Close the Distance, she says: "It's a song about learning something the long way round.

"How not everything is in your control and sometimes it feels like you put time and care into the wrong place."

Tell us three things about yourself…

I am quiet and find it easier to express myself through songwriting. I'm a Pisces (I love swimming in the sea) and I love stand-up comedy.

How would you describe your music?

I think it's a blend of all my influences and my own personality. There’s a strong folk element with a mix of pop, indie and rock.

Who are your musical inspirations?

I’ve so many but I really fell for Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, and Warren Zevon.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I went to the Pussycat Dolls with my cousin and my auntie. The support act was Lady Gaga; it was great craic.

What was the first record you ever bought?

No idea, probably Kings of Leon or Biffy Clyro. I had a few bands I obsessed over as a teenager.

What’s your favourite song right now?

I think Tonight by Kings of Leon has been on repeat for me recently and North Country by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

Favourite lyric of all time?

I have loads but this one popped into my head first: "Some days I feel like my shadows casting me".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lopin' Thru the Cosmos by Judee Sill or The Long and Winding Road by the Beatles.
