Say She She, whose name pays homage to Nile Rodgers, made Cut & Rewind, their third record, almost immediately after wrapping the tours supporting 2023's Silver.

They have performed at venues like the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and the Roundhouse in London, as well as festivals including Glastonbury, Austin City Limits, and Pickathon.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I am 25% Irish.

I live in Brooklyn but I spend most of the year touring with my band, Say She She.

When I’m home in New York, you’ll usually find me chasing great food, hitting the galleries in Chelsea and LES, or volunteering with the incredible community at the Lower East Side Girls Club.

How would you describe your music?

We call it Discodelic soul…or Punk-chic funk:)

Who are your musical inspirations?

As a band, we are inspired by Minnie Riperton, ESG, Talking Heads, Rotary Connection, Lonnie Liston Smith, Lijadu Sisters, and Grace Jones to name a few.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My parents took me to see Fleetwood Mac when I was nine.

What was the first record you ever bought?

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill.

What’s your favourite song right now?

On the road, I keep coming back to Nina Simone’s Baltimore - it’s one of those songs that never gets old. I’ve also been loving Rio Kosta’s music - it’s so lush and psychedelic. Check them out!

Favourite lyric of all time?

I am very much inspired by music that has a message and acts as and call to arms for taking action to make change. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised by Gill Scott Heron is a standout example of that and its lyrics exude a spirit of urgency and empowerment that continues to shape how I think about what music can do.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would have to be soothing and transportive if I have to listen to it for the rest of my life (!) so I would pick Astral Traveling by Pharoah Sanders.
