Their new EP captures "themes of helplessness and desperation in a very heavy and suffocating world. The band have used the word 'fog' as an allegory for depression and that heavy feeling in your soul".
Speaking about the EP, the band say, "It's about the guilt that follows when the fog finally lifts. The apologies and excuses that need to be made for missing deadlines, ignoring calls, neglecting responsibilities.
"The fear of the guilt often plays a role in how long the fog sticks around for. Sometimes we get comfortable in the darkness, and it's hard to know where to start when we step outside for the first time in a while."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
We have members from Belfast, Derry, the North Coast and Downpatrick.
Carl and Sam have coincidental matching octopus tattoos from before we started Lord Jane.
Our band anthem is Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel.
How would you describe your music?
Upbeat alternative rock with Midwest emo influences.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Paramore, Delta Sleep, American Football and Deftones are all artists we share love for! They’re the bands that we bonded over when we first started Lord Jane.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Clodagh: Muse, 2015
Carl: Arctic Monkeys, 2009.
Aidan:: My Chemical Romance, 2007.
Sam:: Metallica in Belfast.
Dylan: Foo Fighters, 2012.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Clodágh: A Present for Everyone - Busted.
Carl: Bloodsugarsexmagic - RHCP.
Sam: Michael Jackson (on cassette - showing his age with that one)
Aidan: Rumours - Fleetwood Mac.
Dylan: In Through the Out Door - Led Zeppelin.
What’s your favourite song right now?
The Detail - Delta Sleep. It’s one of the songs we all bonded over that made us realise all five of us were meant to be in a room making music together!
Favourite lyric of all time?
One of Clodagh’s all-time favourite lyricists and songwriters is Jeff Buckley. And her favourite lyrics come from Lover You Should’ve Come Over: "My body turns, And yearns for a sleep that won't ever come, It's never over, My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder, It's never over, All my riches for her smiles, When I've slept so soft against her".
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel. It’s a staple for hyping us up on the car journeys to play shows!
Where can people find your music/more information?
Our music is on Spotify, YouTube and all other streaming platforms. You can also buy our music and merch on Bandcamp! We’re also on Instagram and TikTok and all the socials.
