Colin Farrell will star as Father Roy Craig in Ordained, a new action-thriller that will be produced by Avengers directors the Russo Bros under their AGBO banner.
US entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported Farrell's casting, says that Ordained is based on the new Bad Ideas Comics title of the same name from the team of Robert Venditti and Raul Allen, Antonio Del Hoyo and Trevor Hairsine.
"Farrell will star as Father Roy Craig, a priest who performs last rites on a mob boss who miraculously survives - but not before confessing his crimes to the father," says The Hollywood Reporter.
"Soon after, Father Roy finds himself targeted by hitmen, corrupt cops, and gangsters - all sent by the mob boss who wants to silence him.
"But Father Roy secretly has a violent past that makes him a more dangerous target than anyone imagines."
Farrell will also produce Ordained alongside his sister Claudine Farrell through their production company Chapel Place.
John Wick's Derek Kolstad is writing the script for Ordained. The director has yet to be announced.
The first issue of Ordained will be published on 10 December.
Farrell can currently be seen in Netflix's Ballad of a Small Player.
