Normal People's Daisy Edgar-Jones is coming back to Ireland to star opposite Task's Emilia Jones in Bad Bridgets, the new film from Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt.

US entertainment trade publication Variety, which first reported the story, says Bad Bridgets is based on the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick and has been developed with the support of Queen's University Belfast.

In the story, "a mysterious letter sets a young woman on a perilous journey from famine-ravaged Ireland to 19th-century New York, joining the ranks of Irish so-called 'Bridgets' creating mayhem in the city".

Variety says the film, written and directed by Peppiatt, "will shoot in Northern Ireland and Ireland in spring 2026".
