The Celebrity Traitors delivered two murders and a near Traitor reveal in a gripping episode that saw Kate Garraway and Celia Imrie leave the competition, while Alan Carr struggled to keep a straight face when declaring himself a "Faithful."
Comedian Carr was tasked with murdering actress Celia Imrie in plain sight by making a toast and saying the line, "Parting is such sweet sorrow," followed by her name.
He was later named one of the five finalists alongside singer Cat Burns, former rugby player Joe Marler, comedian Nick Mohammed, and historian David Olusoga. But his attempt to convince the others of his innocence almost came undone when he burst out laughing while claiming to be a "Faithful."
Following a tense roundtable that saw Garraway banished, the remaining contestants gathered around a firepit where host Claudia Winkleman revealed they had reached the final stage of the game. Each player was asked to declare, "I am a Faithful."
When it came to Carr's turn, he barely managed to get the words out before laughing. "I am, I am a Faithful. I just get nervous," he said.
Marler later told viewers: "That is just another confirmation of what I’m thinking already about Alan. He can’t even look us in the eyes and say, 'I’m a Faithful.’ If that’s not a red flag, I don’t know what is."
He added: "My plan involves getting really close to Alan and Cat, so they keep me in the game, and then I can try and pull the rug from under their feet last minute. Sorry, Traitors, I’m coming for you."
The Celebrity Traitors finale airs on BBC One on Thursday, 6 November.
