How would you describe your music?
I always strive for my compositions and improvisations to tell a story. My intention is always to connect with my listeners through the music and compose and play with passion and lyricism.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I’m greatly inspired by the music of Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock and beautiful melodies wherever I find them. I especially like Celtic folk music and other popular music.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
I heard the Duke Ellington Orchestra when I was growing up. I didn’t know anything about jazz but I remember the experience to this day.
What was the first record you ever bought?
The first records I bought were Joni Mitchell’s Blue and Let it Be by the Beatles. I listened to these albums countless times.
What’s your favourite song right now?
My favourite song is Take it With Me by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan. When I first heard this deeply moving song, I was driving and literally pulled over to the side of the road to experience it. I was thrilled to be able to record it with the great vocalist, Kate McGarry.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Take It With Me. The lyrics convey the preciousness of life, and the beauty of everyday experiences.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I feel funny mentioning a song that I composed, but the song Love came from my heart, and I still hear it in my consciousness. It is a constant reminder of what is most important to me.
Where can people find your music/more information?
