LA soul-rock singer Jen Awad and award-winning composer Will Bates' new song Doomed to Loving You features on Paramount+'s Tony & Ziva. We asked Jen the BIG questions . . .

Jen made her mark with a residency at LA venue The Echo, fronting a 12-piece band and she has also performed at Chateau Marmont. Earlier this year, she released Existential Daydream.

She currently curates Valley of the Dolls, a monthly immersive event in LA and collaborates with composer Will Bates.

Will has composed music for directors including Mike Cahill (Another Earth, I Origins, Bliss), Alex Gibney (We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks) and Craig Gillespie (The Better Sister, Dumb Money).

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I’m Peruvian Egyptian, I’m a Virgo and I can’t stand small talk but I’m quite good at it.

How would you describe your music?

Lyrical deep cuts, songs you either wanna cry w or scream at the top of your lungs to. Motown ballads, dance songs or 70s rock. I’m kinda all over the place.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Nina Simone, Fiona Apple and Hole.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Honestly embarrassing but Wango Tango fest where I witnessed The Goo Goo Dolls, Sisqo, Sugar Ray and Jessica Simpson.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Where is My Husband! by Raye.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Jesus! I don’t even know how to answer this. But maybe: "Oh you creep up like the clouds and you set my soul at ease than you let your love about and you bring me to my knees" Shadowboxer by Fiona Apple.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably Annie Dog by Smashing Pumpkins.

Where can people find your music/more information?

Spotify, Apple, YouTube, the Gram, TikTok. I’m reachable.
