The music manager says he wants to tell his side of the Boyzone story.

Louis Walsh has said he disagreed with how the recent Boyzone documentary portrayed the band's story, describing it as "fiction rather than fact" and saying he would like to share his own version in the future.

The three-part Sky Documentaries series Boyzone: No Matter What, which aired earlier this year, looked back at the group’s rise to fame, their internal tensions and the death of Stephen Gately in 2009. It featured interviews with Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham.

Speaking to RTÉ's Arts and Media Correspondent Evelyn O'Rourke, Walsh said: "The documentary wasn’t factual - it was fiction. Wait until I do mine. I’ll tell the real story on Boyzone, and everyone’s going to be shocked."

He added: "I wasn’t hurt because I know what Ronan Keating is like, seriously. He produced the show - it’s fine, it’s pop music. I’m managing Westlife, and they’re about to do ten nights here probably."

Turning to Westlife, Walsh said he believes the band’s upcoming run of five shows at Dublin’s 3Arena could easily expand.

"Westlife, it’s about longevity, great songs, nice guys," he said. "Five nights going on sale - I think we’ll sell more. I could see them doing ten nights. There’s no stopping this band."

He praised their long-standing connection with fans and their Irish roots. "They know where they came from, Sligo and Dublin. We don’t take anything for granted. With Westlife, it’s the songs and it’s them - they don’t need the lights or the dancers, that’s other people’s distraction."

Walsh also said he believes pop music "works better indoors", adding that the atmosphere of a venue like the 3Arena brings out the best in the band’s sound.
