TV presenter Katja Mia will make her radio debut this weekend as she joins RTÉ 2FM to present 2FM Weekend Morning with Katja Mia from 9am to 12 noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

She will take over the slot while regular presenter Bláthnaid Treacy is on maternity leave. The show will feature music, competitions, and light-hearted segments, including What's Wrong With Ye? and the Pamper Hamper giveaway.

Speaking ahead of her first broadcast on Saturday, 18 October, Katja said she was "absolutely buzzing" to join 2FM.

"It’s always been a dream of mine to work on radio and this opportunity has come at a perfect time in my career," she said. "I’m aware that I have massive boots to fill, but we’ll have an absolute blast along the way."

Katja Mia is a Burundian-Irish presenter, model and social media personality best known for her work on Virgin Media's The Six O'Clock Show and Ireland AM.

Katja Mia was part of the 2023 Dancing with the Stars line-up

Raised in Blanchardstown, Dublin, she graduated from Maynooth University in 2018 with a degree in international finance, economics and German.

She appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2023, reaching the quarter-finals with professional dancer Ervinas Merfeldas.

RTÉ 2FM Head Dan Healy said the team was "thrilled" to welcome Katja to the weekend line-up for the next six months.

"Katja is one of the new, seriously talented Irish stars," he said. "Saturday and Sunday mornings are hugely important to 2FM, and I’m certain she’ll bring her own unique style and energy to the show."

Healy also wished Bláthnaid Treacy and her family well as they await the arrival of their baby.

An RTÉ spokesperson said: "2FM approached Katja after the Expressions of Interest phase had concluded. 2FM hired five presenters directly from that process."

2FM Weekend Morning with Katja Mia begins this Saturday from 9am on RTÉ 2FM.
