Alexandra studied in NUIG and fell in love with her ancestral homeland. Upon returning to Nashville, she experienced a spinal cord injury, where she was told she may never walk again.

A couple years on, she has overcome her health issues and returned to Ireland, playing in her old local (Monroes in Galway) ahead of the release of Across The Pond.

"Across the Pond is where tradition meets my own experience - a bridge between Ireland and my Irish American roots," she says.

"The two original songs are a love letter to Ireland, inspired by its beauty, music, people, and the many experiences I've had there, while the two covers are ones that shaped me through family gatherings and my years at NUIG.

"This EP is more than music; it’s a collection of memories - both borrowed and my own - from the Ireland I love so well."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I adopted a deaf dog named Pillsbury, who runs the show and is the sweetest shadow.

I used to see ghosts a lot as a kid and would chat with family members who’d passed on.

My favourite smell is turf fire - oddly specific, but it reminds me of the cosiest home or pub

How would you describe your music?

I’d call it a folk/singer-songwriter blend, with strong Irish influences layered with the sounds of New York and Nashville. It’s deeply honest, rooted in storytelling, sometimes playful, and always from the heart.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Irish session players, my Dad, Ed Sheeran, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, and the brilliant lyricism of Taylor Swift and Noah Kahan.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My parents performing at our local pub. I was about a year and a half old and apparently got up to sing Twinkle Twinkle for the crowd - and loved it until the applause got a bit too loud haha. My first big concert, though, was either Faith Hill and Tim McGraw or Bruce Springsteen.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Shania Twain! I had to have my own CD because my mom and I would blast her in the car and sing along together.

What’s your favourite song right now?

I Can Change Him by Jensen McRae. The way the song unravels, her storytelling, and that stunning tone - it’s delicious. Honestly, her whole new album has me hooked.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"So, pack up your car, put a hand on your heart, say whatever you feel, be wherever you are. We ain’t angry at you, love. You’re the greatest thing we’ve lost." - Noah Kahan.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That feels like torture haha! I’d probably say Gravity by Sara Bareilles. It takes me somewhere whimsical and emotional all at once. But if I needed something more grounding, it would be Timshel by Mumford & Sons, which reminds me of peaceful days running around the forest with my cousins on my family’s farm.
