Andrew Scott was among the stars walking the red carpet at the London Film Festival on Wednesday night for the premiere of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
The film marks Daniel Craig's third outing as detective Benoit Blanc and opened the 69th edition of the festival, which runs until 19 October. Craig was joined by co-stars Glenn Close, Josh Brolin and Mila Kunis for the world premiere of writer-director Rian Johnson’s latest instalment in the whodunit series.
Irish actors Andrew Scott and Daryl McCormack appear among the ensemble cast - Scott as bestselling author Lee Ross and McCormack as aspiring politician Cy Draven.

Set in a small town with a darker, more gothic tone than Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion (2022), the story begins when Brolin’s character, Monsignor Wicks, is murdered, and suspicion falls on his parishioners. The cast also includes Josh O’Connor, Jeremy Renner, Daryl McCormack and Cailee Spaeny.

Craig told Reuters that each film in the trilogy is designed to stand alone, saying: "They’re all different from each other, which is what we set out to do." Asked about returning as Blanc, he added: "I wouldn’t do it unless I had fun doing it."

Johnson said he and Craig began developing Wake Up Dead Man shortly after screening Glass Onion at the same festival two years ago. "The idea of doing something a little more grounded seemed like a good challenge," he said.

This year’s festival features 247 titles, with appearances expected from George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Paul Mescal, and Daniel Day-Lewis, who returns to the screen in Anemone, directed by his son.
