Washington D.C. singer-songwriter Benjamin Steer has released his second EP, Figuring It Out. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Benjamin relocated to Scotland to study Economics at St Andrews and started writing songs to process the long British winters.

Since then, he has supported artists including Kingfishr, Calum Bowie, Texas, Arthur Hill, Kerr Mercer, and Myles Smith, the latter of whom personally invited Ben on tour after hearing his music.

"My new EP is a hopeless romantic's dream and downfall," Benjamin says. "I wanted to capture the helpless unknowns of being in your 20s and trying to figure out what makes you happy while balancing the pressures and expectations of life… hopefully something people can relate to."

I think too much.

I like mums.

I am a lover of whole milk and saunas

How would you describe your music?

Like a tingle to your tastebuds or a tongue in your ear.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Jon Bellion, Ed Sheeran, Stromae, Noah Kahan, Tchaikovsky.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I don’t know whether this is the coolest thing in the world or distinctly uncool. It was a Shakira show with my Mum

What was the first record you ever bought?

Scarborough Fair - Simon and Garfunkel.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Nice to Each Other - Olivia Dean.

Favourite lyric of all time?
