Ed Sheeran lands his seventh Irish No. 1 album

Ed Sheeran has landed his seventh Irish Number 1 album this week as Play debuts at the top of the Official Irish Albums Chart.

The record adds to a run of Irish chart-toppers for the singer, which includes +, ×, ÷, No.6 Collaborations Project, =, and .

Play brings together a wide range of collaborators including Elvira Anderfjärd, Louis Bell, Cirkut, Omer Fedi, Fred, Ilya, Savan Kotecha, Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, Blake Slatkin, and Andrew Watt.

The album's release has already been supported by several singles, Azizam, Old Phone, Sapphire, A Little More, and Camera, rolled out in the lead-up to release.

Sheeran is currently wrapping up live dates in the US before returning to Europe for a string of shows. He plays a sold-out show at Dublin’s 3Arena on 9 December.

Twenty One Pilots land at No. 4 with Brace, while Jade’s That’s Showbiz Baby debuts at No. 9.

Meanwhile, on the new singles chart, Olivia Dean unseats Kingfishr’s Killeagh from the top spot with Man I Need, ending the Irish trio’s eight-week run.
