Long Lost Family returns with more heart-tugging tales, Mawaan Rizwan's comedy Juice is back for a second run, Jude Law and Jason Bateman star in Black Rabbit, and it’s a busy day at The Dog House . . .

Pick of the Day

Black Rabbit, Netflix

Set against the backdrop of New York City's high-pressure nightlife scene, this new drama series centres on two brothers who are pushed to the brink by their duty to family and their pursuit of success.

Jake Friedken (Jude Law) is the charismatic owner of Black Rabbit, a restaurant and VIP lounge, poised to become the hottest spot in New York.

But when his brother, Vince (Jason Bateman), returns to the business unexpectedly, trouble soon follows - opening the door to old traumas and new dangers that threaten to bring down everything they’ve built.

The series explores the way an unbreakable bond between two brothers can shatter their world and everything in its orbit.

New or Returning Shows

Long Lost Family, 9.00pm, UTV

It's Kleenex time again as this touching series returns for a 15th season.

Both stories in this opening episode celebrate the bond between brothers.

In the first case, Lee Sharp's adoptive parents had told him that he was a foundling, but the team discovers this isn't true and a sibling he never knew he had.

In the second case, Peter MacDonald's father snatched him from his mother's arms as a baby as a train carrying her and his older brother Trevor pulled out of Preston station.

After 58 years of longing, Peter wants to see his brother again.

Juice, 9.00pm, BBC Three

Season two of the comedy, written by and starring Mawaan Rizwan, which follows one man's quest for attention from anyone who'll give it to him.

After splitting up with Guy, Jamma is now between jobs and sleeping on Winnie's sofa.

But when he unexpectedly sees Guy for the first time in six months at Isaac's pop-up art exhibition, the spark between the exes is undeniable.

To Jamma and Guy's surprise a handsome stranger takes a special interest in their relationship status.

Episode two follows at 9.25pm, where Guy's double-booked himself, so asks Jamma to house-sit and let a builder in.

Meanwhile, Phil Ellis finds something surprising inside a fake fish and Ania Magliano makes a startling revelation.

As ever Little Alex Horne does his level best to maintain a little decorum.

The Great Gatsby, 9.00pm, BBC Four

Here’s what happens when you don’t invest in a project and it falls flat.

F Scott Fitzgerald

The budget for this version of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic was $5 million. That wouldn’t cover catering on most Hollywood movies these days.

I was going to make an argument that is worth watching just for Paull Rudd’s performance as Nick Carraway. It’s the film’s only redeeming feature.

Really, you’d be better of watching the programme that follows the film.

At 11.15pm there’s Omnibus: The Great Gatsby – Midnight in Manhattan, an excellent 2000 profile of F Scott Fitzgerald on the 75th anniversary of The Great Gatsby’s publication.

Donal's Festival Kitchen, 8.00pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

Once again, Donal Skehan, invites members of Ireland’s minority faith communities to share with him the celebrations associated with some of their key festivals – and to explain the role that food plays.

Champions League Live, 7.30pm, RTÉ2

Streaming on RTÉ Player

Joanne Cantwell (below) presents the action from the matchday one league phase fixture, held at St James' Park as Newcastle United host Barcelona (KO 8pm).

Newcastle return to this competition after missing out last time, and they haven't met Catalan giants Barca since the 2002/03 season, when they lost home and away.

But a game on Tyneside between the sides back in 1997 is still remembered fondly by the locals, as Faustino Asprilla scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win for the Magpies.

Over on Virgin Media Two, from 7.45pm there's the KdB Derby between Manchester City and Napoli (KO 8pm) at Etihad Stadium.

This contest is likely to see one of the City’s greatest ever players, Kevin de Bruyne, visit the club after joining their opponents on a free transfer in the summer.

The Belgian was in the City line-up when the teams last met here in the 2017/18 season and the hosts claimed a 2-1 win.
