Fair City is set to mark its 36th anniversary with some high-stakes drama as Doug and Erica prepare to tie the knot this week.
The residents of Carrigstown gather at the chapel ready to witness what should be a joyful union, but tensions are simmering below the surface.
The RTÉ soap teases that "Erica's former flame, Philip, has been quietly circling the neighbourhood, tempting her with echoes of their past romance.
"As Erica walks down the aisle, a flicker of doubt still lingers. She chooses to embrace her future with Doug, but one question looms: who is watching from the shadows, and what will they do next?

"Meanwhile, Hayley's world is turned upside down when her waters break suddenly. In a desperate bid to claw his way back into her life, James tricks her into letting him drive her to the hospital.
"When Hayley uncovers his true motives mid-journey, tensions erupt, leading to a devastating car crash.

"As Doug and Erica leave the chapel, their problems go from bad to worse as they narrowly miss the spinning wreckage. Rushing to help, they're horrified to discover Hayley and James inside the mangled remains of the car."

The synopsis concludes: "With time slipping away, Doug and James must work together in a desperate race against the clock to save Hayley and her unborn baby before it's too late.
"Can Doug and James rescue Hayley before the flames engulf her?"
