This crime drama miniseries comes from HBO – which is usually a sign of quality content.

Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, FBI agent Tom (Mark Ruffalo) heads a Task Force assembled to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man Robbie (Tom Pelphrey).

Also starring Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and – one of my favourite actresses - Martha Plimpton.

Thailand: The Dark Side of Paradise, 8.00pm, BBC Three

After being invited to a bar crawl on Khaosan Road, Zara McDermott (below) gets under the skin of Bangkok's notorious red-light district, Soi Cowboy - but filming is swiftly shut down by local bar owners and the police.

When Zara meets Mike Yu, a young British expat living a life of luxury in the Thai capital, she realises there is more to the city than meets the eye.

Meanwhile, a visit to the Bangkok Immigration Detention Centre exposes how easy it is to get caught on the wrong side of the law in Thailand.

The Sky at Night, 10.00pm, BBC Four

It's that time of the month when the Beeb looks at the stars.

In an episode subtitled The Expanding Universe the team explores the continuing enlargement of the universe and the questions it raises about how the cosmos works.

Chris Lintott travels to the University of Oxford to find out about cosmic microwave background, the faint afterglow of the Big Bang, while Maggie Aderin-Pocock investigates supernovae and discovers how they can be used to measure cosmic distances.

Spotlight, 8.00pm, BBC One

Darragh MacIntyre investigates how global drugs cartels are using Ireland as a route to get hundreds of millions of pounds worth of cocaine into Great Britain and Europe.

The Wife, 9.30pm, TG4

Oscar-nominated drama, starring a superb Glenn Close, Jonathan Pryce and Max Irons.

Successful writer Joe Castleman is delighted to receive an early morning telephone call from Sweden informing him that he has won this year's Nobel Prize in Literature.

His steadfast wife Joan is equally delighted, but as she prepares to travel to Stockholm to support and encourage her husband, she reflects on her life.

That ranges from when she first met Joe, her married literature tutor with whom she embarks on the affair which would change the course of their lives.

The Biddy Baxter Story, 10.30pm, BBC Four

Sarah Dunant presents a 1987 profile of the former editor of long-running BBC children's magazine show Blue Peter, who recently died.

The documentary features contributions by various Blue Peter presenters including Sarah Greene, Valerie Singleton, Simon Groom and Peter Purves.

Jamie: Eat Yourself Healthy, 8.00pm, Channel 4

This week, Jamie Oliver (above) serves up seared tuna with wholegrain rice and a tangy kimchi sauce - a powerful combination of vitamin D and calcium that is said to benefit our bone health.

Next, Jamie knocks up fibre-packed overnight oats that are good for reducing cholesterol and a nourishing chicken and mushroom hotpot. He also explores the science behind kiwi fruit's incredible sleep-inducing potential.

Ending Today

Disaster at Sea: The Piper Alpha Story, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Survivors and witnesses give evidence at the Cullen Inquiry, revealing fatal errors, ignored warnings and failed safety and communication systems.

It all adds up to painting a damning picture of an industry that seemed to place production above protection.

Despite the report's scathing findings, no criminal charges were brought, dealing another blow to many survivors and victims' families.
