The programme offered six bands and musicians the opportunity to undertake eight weeks of workshops and recording sessions, training them in music production, songwriting, stage presence, marketing and more.

Aisling Moran, Jessie and the Veil, Earthmover, Little Kings, and Éire agus Chulainn will also play the showcase in The Grand Social.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I'm a fluent Irish speaker! I grew up in the Gaeltacht of Baile Ghib in County Meath and have spoken Irish my whole life.

I write and produce all of my own music. I’m really proud of that, especially considering only 2% of music producers are women!

I have a Master’s Degree in Music Production, Technology and Innovation from Berklee College of Music. I was awarded their Outstanding Woman Scholarship and mentored by Syliva Massy (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince).

How would you describe your music?

People on TikTok refer to me as 'Gaeilgeoir Swift’ and honestly, that describes my music really well! I make bilingual music that fuses Irish-language storytelling with a global pop sound that resonates with listeners in Ireland and Irish diaspora all over the world.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Taylor Swift is an inspiration for me in terms of her work ethic, storytelling and songwriting. I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac with my dad in the car which had a huge influence on my musical taste. I’m also a big Chappell Roan fan!

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I went to see Britney Spears with my mom, sister and cousins back in 2004!

What was the first record you ever bought?

I think the first CD I ever bought was The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne.

What’s your favourite song right now?

My favourite song right now is Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan. I just saw her perform at Electric Picnic and that has become a new core favourite memory for me!

Favourite lyric of all time?

"And there we are again when nobody had to know, you kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath" - All Too Well (10 minute version) by Taylor Swift

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s such a tricky question, but I’m going to say All Too Well (10 Minute Version) by Taylor Swift. It’s an economical choice because there’s so much emotion packed into one song!

Where can people find your music/more information?

You can find me on TikTok and Instagram @lisawiththefringe and my music is under ‘Lisa Murray’ on all streaming platforms! Come say hi if you’re a fan of new original music as Gaeilge and/or pop covers in Irish!

You can also catch me and some other emerging Irish language artists performing live in The Grand Social in Dublin on 17 September. This gig is set to mark the end of the Glór Ár Linne scheme run by Raidió Rí Rá, Creative Ireland, Dublin City Council and some other amazing organisations. The gig will include performances from me, Aisling Moran, Little Kings, Éire agus Chulainn, Earthmover and Jessie and the Veil. Bígí linn!
