Exclusive First trailer for Brenda Fricker film The Swallow

A first look has been released at The Swallow, a new feature film by Tadhg O'Sullivan starring Academy Award winner Brenda Fricker.

The film, which was shot on location in County Clare, will be released in select Irish cinemas from 19 September.

The release coincides with the publication of Fricker’s memoir She Died Young: A Life in Fragments. The film centres on an artist reflecting on her life and memories while confronting the passing of time and her reluctance to let go.

Fricker said working on the project was "a unique and wonderful experience" and praised O’Sullivan for giving her "an unusual freedom to interpret the world that he had created".

O’Sullivan described the film as a meditation on art, memory and solitude in later life, adding that working with Fricker brought the story "to a different level".

The Swallow was funded by The Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon under the Authored Works scheme.
