Sabrina Carpenter has remained tight-lipped about whether any of the songs on her new album are about Irish actor Barry Keoghan.

The US pop star released Man's Best Friend last Friday and there has been speculation over her friendship with the Banshees of Inisheerin star and whether it influenced the new record.

Speaking to US broadcaster Gayle King, Carpenter said, "I just wouldn't say, It’s more fun to picture the person in their head than the person I picture in my head, I think.

"I feel pretty transparent going into any of my relationships that I write songs,"

She added, "Most of the times they have been pretty flattered when they get a song about them, good or bad. I think they're just excited to get a shoutout."

Carpenter has also said of people who have criticised her new album cover, "Y'all need to get out more, I think."

The Tears singer said: "It's between me and my friends and my family and the people that I always share my music and my art with first, it just wasn't even a conversation… It was just, like, it’s perfect for what the album is, and what it represents."
