Jason has over two decades experience in the Irish underground scene and Slip Away is released via his own label, Lefty Shades Records.
"Slip Away is about release - emotionally, mentally, even physically," he says. "It’s that desire to let go of the weight of everyday life and find a moment where you can just be. Whether you’re dancing, daydreaming, or driving at golden hour - I wanted the track to feel like freedom."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I'm a dad to two incredible daughters, I’ve been delivering post in Cork for 19 years (so, yes, I know every shortcut in the city), and I like to train five times a week - strength, Hyrox, or chasing a fast 5K.
How would you describe your music?
Soulful house with an underground edge - music that makes you feel good and keeps you moving.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Frankie Knuckles, Kerri Chandler, CamelPhat and the energy of Sweat at Sir Henry’s in Cork.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Sweat in Sir Henry’s, I realised House music wasn’t just a sound but a community, No phones, no filters - just sweat, smiles, and house music.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Vinyl: Professional Widow by Tori Amos (Armand Van Helden mix).
Cassette: Carl Cox - FACT and Praga Khan’s Injected With A Poison.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Kosheen - Catch U (2021 remaster). Goosebumps every time.
Favourite lyric of all time?
