RTÉ presenters Claire Byrne, Doireann Garrihy, John Creedon and Drivetime's Sarah McInerney and Cormac Ó hEadhra are among the nominees for the 2025 IMRO Radio Awards.
The annual awards ceremony is a celebration of the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and stations to the Irish radio landscape.
The 2025 winners will be announced in a ceremony on 3 October, with a total of 42 awards handed out on the night, with each category announcing a Gold, Silver and Bronze winner. Nominees are recognised across all Irish networks including independently owned and run stations.
The nominees in the Specialist Speech Programme category are: Arena on RTÉ Radio 1, Cookie Bytes on RTÉJr Radio, Daddy, What's a Podcast? on BBC Radio Ulster, Futureproof on Newstalk and Language of the Lough on Ocean FM
In the Current Affairs Programme - Full Service category, RTÉ has picked up three nominations for Today with Claire Byrne (RTÉ Radio 1), Drivetime (RTÉ Radio 1) and Saturday with Colm Ó Mongáin (RTÉ Radio 1). They will compete against The Hard Shoulder (Newstalk) and The Pat Kenny Show (Newstalk).
RTÉ 2FM's Doireann Garrihy is up for Music and Entertainment Presenter of the Year, competing against Connor Phillips (BBC Radio Ulster), Dave Duke (iRadio), KC (RedFM) and Louise Cantillon (Today FM).
In the Breakfast Programme category, the nominees are: 98FM's Big Breakfast with Rebecca & Brendan (98FM), Lorraine and Ross in the Morning (Cork's 96FM), RedFM Breakfast with KC (RedFM), Spin's Fully Charged with Ed and Valerie (Spin South West) and The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show (Today FM).
The Radio DJ of the Year category consists of John Creedon (RTÉ Radio 1), Louise Duffy (RTÉ Radio 1), Brian McEvoy (Cork's 96FM), Marty Guilfoyle (SPIN 1038) and Simon Murdoch (Cork's 96FM).
The General Music Programme nominees are 98FM's Big Ride Home (98FM), Dave Moore on Today FM (Today FM), On the Move with Kayte O'Malley (Galway Bay FM), Ray Foley on Today FM (Today FM) and The Lunchtime Show with Stephen Keogh (Tipp FM).
In the News Programme - Full Service category RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland and the News at One are nominated alongside Evening Extra on BBC Radio Ulster, Breakfast Business on Newstalk and Good Morning Ulster also on BBC Radio Ulster.
In the Specialist Music Programme category, Peggy's Dream: Martin Hayes and the National Symphony Orchestra (RTÉ lyric fm) has been nominated alongside The Rolling Wave (RTÉ Radio 1), The Music Tree with JJ O Shea (Radio Kerry), Today FM Soundtracks with Dara Quilty (Today FM) and 98FM Dance with Mark McCabe (98FM).
The Radio Moment of the Year category includes: My Son Sits in Two Different Coffins (Midlands 103), Sweet Mother of Jesus (Galway Bay FM), The Michael Reade Show - The Final Show (LMFM), The Pat Kenny Show: Losing a Parent to Suicide (Newstalk) and What's Becoming of Me (Clare FM).
Meanwhile, the nominees for the Gay Byrne Award - Newcomer of the Year are: Claudia Boyle (RTÉ lyric fm), Courtney Callaghan (Midlands 103), Jessica Woodlock (Newstalk), Josh Hanover (Cork's 96FM) and Yuliia Riabova (Radio Kerry).

The 2025 IMRO Radio Awards will take place at Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny, on Friday, 3 October, 2025.
