Bon Boy is the alter-ego of Wisconsin-born, Chicago-bred multi-instrumentalist Steve Stenholt and his music has been compared to Viagra Boys, The Hives, The Replacements, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
"I love Bob Seger. I love the Silver Bullet Band. And I love drinking silver bullets (otherwise known as Coors Light in America)," says Bon Boy. "This cover and video bring all those loves together."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I enjoy hard riffs and easy livin’.
I am shy until I have about three pints.
I still don’t know myself enough to come up with a third thing about myself.
How would you describe your music?
The product of too many musical influences crammed into a howl and a guitar riff and hoping that it works. So much hope.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Devo’s smart brain and AC/DC’s monkey brain. There are so many others, of course, but I believe the combination of these two is the perfect band.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Peter Frampton in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I felt like he did.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Frampton Comes Alive at that very gig. Again, I was feeling like he did.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy. I swear I’m not just buttering you up because they’re Irish. Phil Lynott forever!
Favourite lyric of all time?
"If I had to do the same again, I would, my friend" - ABBA. Makes anything mean everything.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cowboy Song!
Where can people find your music/more information?
Apple Music, Spotify.
