Conor is a classically trained pianist turned alt-electronic artist and speaking about his new song, he says, "Teen in the Eighties is a nostalgic alt-pop anthem that contrasts the raw simplicity of past youth with the digital chaos of today.

"Driven by soaring choruses and sharp lyrical commentary, the track captures the ache for authenticity in an age of curated illusions. It's both a throwback and a protest, inviting listeners to reclaim something real amid the noise."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I also work full-time as a doctor, which is why it takes me a few years to finish an album.

I record and produce all my music myself, in my living room, which often requires several takes as we have a young baby.

I often draw inspiration for songs from TV and movies. For example, the idea for this single came after watching Stranger Things on Netflix. The song is giving out about social media and I thought the eighties aesthetic in the show offered a good contrast.

How would you describe your music?

My music is best described as indie-electronic, blending elements of classical, rock, and electronic sounds. I trained in classical piano from a young age but grew up listening to and loving rock and electronic music. In my production, I aim to create cinematic, immersive soundscapes that evoke vivid imagery while also delivering an energetic punch.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My main inspirations are M83, Muse, Radiohead and Sigur Rós, while I also draw inspiration from composers such as Hans Zimmer. Some of my more mellow, piano-centric material draws influence from neo-classical composers such as Ólafur Arnalds.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Pearl Jam in the Point in 2006. Incredible show, still one of my favourite ever gigs to this day.

What was the first record you ever bought?

My first record was Ten by Pearl Jam. It was given to me by a classmate when I was in sixth class in primary school. This was the beginning of my love for rock music.

What’s your favourite song right now?

A Dawning by Ólafur Arnalds and Talos.

Favourite lyric of all time?

I Am Mine by Pearl Jam. The lyric is "The north is to south what the clock is to time. There's east and there's west and there's everywhere life. I know I was born and I know that I'll die, the in between is mine. I am mine".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Giorgio by Moroder, by Daft Punk. I love the way this song seamlessly fuses electronic, rock and even jazz genres, centred around an incredibly catchy synth hook.

Where can people find your music/more information?

My music is available to stream on the usual platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and SoundCloud. I post regularly about upcoming releases on Instagram (@steppingonlego_), Facebook and TikTok (@steppingonlegomusic). My website is where you can also join my mailing list.
