"Block You follows the emotional journey of going through a hard break-up and the decision to block the person you once loved," she says. "Grief, frustration, relapse and eventually acceptance are all themes explored."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I love writing songs and making music. I play piano, cello, ukulele, guitar. I've also been giving bass guitar a go this year.
I’m really interested in astronomy, love reading about space and time. I enjoy listening to Brian Cox.
I also love going out dancing!
How would you describe your music?
My music is upbeat, empowering and catchy. I also write piano ballads. I like to write songs that people can relate to and hopefully help anyone who is going through similar situations. I love a catchy chorus, for me that is so important in my songwriting. I believe most of my songs have a catchy hook!
Who are your musical inspirations?
My musical inspirations are firstly a number of Scottish female artists including KT Tunstall, Emeli Sandé and Amy Macdonald. I also very much take musical influences from Electric Light Orchestra; I love their use of harmonies and instrumentation. I also take a lot of inspiration from old school pop and jazz music, e.g. Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald. Growing up, my big inspiration was Taylor Swift for her lyricism and melodies.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
My first gig was at Aberdeen Music Hall to see Nicola Benedetti where she performed Vivaldi’s Four Seasons! It was amazing!
What was the first record you ever bought?
I think the first record that I ever bought was a CD of Taylor Swift’s country album Fearless. I remember having that on repeat in the car, me and my sister would memorise the lyrics so we could sing along and pretend to have concerts in the back of the car!
What’s your favourite song right now?
My favourite song right now is actually one from the 1970’s called Telephone Line by Electric Light Orchestra. Love all the sounds they used and the vocal harmonies!
Favourite lyric of all time?
My favourite lyric of all time was written by Taylor Swift in her song So Long, London - "And you say I abandoned the ship, but I was going down with it, my white knuckle dying grip, holding tight to your quiet resentment"
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
That’s a hard one to choose. Probably an ABBA song as they are timeless! Maybe Super Trouper!
Where can people find your music/more information?
My website and Linktree are the best - you can see all my live shows and connect to all my social media and streaming accounts hope to see you there!
