Mark Cummins and Paul Murphy released their debut, Goodbye from the Electric Penguins, in October 2006 and their second album, II, in 2010.

Beyond their albums, Electric Penguins have contributed to various projects, including composing the score for Channel 4's Sounds From The City series. They've also collaborated with artists like Kim Wilde, remixing tracks such as Hope and Burn Gold/Silent Night for her Wilde Winter Songbook.
The Way Lights a Fire, Pt.1 features Paddy Kiernan on bass, Tony Brereton of Sack on drums, and the late Barry Grace on piano.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Mark: I only sing when I'm spoken to. Addicted to apologies. I sing countermelodies to every song I hear.
How would you describe your music?
Paul: The quiet bits out loud.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Mark: Miles Davis, Eno, Steely Dan, Stereolab.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Paul: Hawkwind - The Space Ritual at the National Stadium - it was scary and utterly thrilling.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Mark: I’m Not In Love - 10cc.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Mark: MVE I - Caimin Gilmore.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Paul: "We sleep in the mornings, We dream of a ship, That sails away, A thousand miles away" - The Spider and I - Brian Eno.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mark: The Hissing of Summer Lawns - Joni Mitchell.
