Speaking about Hartless Pool, the lead single from the EP, the band's singer Spencer says, "If With Love is a letter to Hartlepool, Hartless Pool is the subject of the email.

"When writing the song, we wanted it to be composed of matters we felt we hadn't mentioned, or ones we hadn't stressed directly enough in the rest of the ep.

"Resurfaced roads, landmarks of the town, how we compare it to when we were younger all that jazz. `Where's my pools?’ summarises how we feel about the town we live in, and how we fail to recognise it from its former communal glory.

"The days of neighbours with keys and unlocked doors are over, just roads being resurfaced and places of our youth no more. A soulless, heartless pool."

Tell us three things about yourself...

There's nothing too exciting to be honest. We've all worked in a kitchen together at some point, three of us still do, I don't think I've ever played a gig without working a 10-hour shift!

We started the band because in our industry we only get Monday to Wednesday off, the Tuesdays were dull and it was dark by 4pm, so we decided to fill the lonely weekdays with something productive, we never even thought we'd end up gigging, never mind interviews!

Lastly, I speak for all of us, we just want to make something cool and share it with the world, whether it reaches Boro or Boston, Newcastle or Papua New Guinea as long as someone's out there digging it, that's enough for us.

How would you describe your music?

Our music is honest. It's a reflection of all four of us, equally contributing to something we share a deep passion for. I think how we are when creating shows in our music's general feel and style, taking the Mick but never insincere.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We take inspiration from all forms of art, nature, people and places. Specifically, music wise, we take a lot of inspiration from late 70's bands like Television, Pere Ubu, The Fall, Wire, Magazine and lots of modern bands like Protomartyr, Crack Cloud, Dry Cleaning, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. We could talk about them all day, we haven't done them justice there haha!

What was the first gig you ever went to?

The first gig that I remember was a festival when I was a kid seeing White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age.

What was the first record you ever bought?

The first record I ever bought was, embarrassingly, American Idiot by Green Day. Far cry from what I listen to now but paved the way in what I'd eventually find.

What's your favourite song right now?

Cannock Chase by Labi Siffre.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Favourite lyrics or top lyrics as there is loads is "centre gravity, planet me, give me the mushrooms it's time to leave". Iron Lung - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Firth of Fifth by Genesis. It's prog rock at its finest and always reminds me of my dad.
