Pain Magazine, a collaborative project featuring French post-hardcore trio Birds in Row and Franco-American industrial techno duo Maelstrom & Louisahhh, has released their new single, Dead Meat. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about Dead Meat, vocalist Louisahhh says, "It's about waking up to an addictive relationship crumbling, the feeling of being sick and tired of being sick and tired.

"The declaration `I'm done with your emotional labour/thought that was love but not anymore" echoes writer Audre Lorde's examination of gendered emotional burden - though relationship dysfunction transcends such boundaries."

Maël: I hate the patriarchy, I love horses, I have a very serious Eurorack addiction

How would you describe your music?

Louisahhh: Concrete, teeth, overwhelm.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Maël: Nine Inch Nails, Kraftwerk, Low, The Prodigy, Tricky.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Maël: An illegal rave party in an abandoned ice factory, some DJ with the name Acid Kirk as playing

What was the first record you ever bought?

Maël: Spiral Tribe - Breach The Peace.

What's your favourite song right now?

Joris: Oklou – Obvious.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Louisahhh: "I'm outta time, I'm outta f***ing time, I'm a gasoline gut with a Vaseline mind, but Wanna disco? Wanna see me disco? Let me hear you depoliticize my rhyme".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Joris: Portishead - We Carry On or Low - Dancing and Blood.
