Don’t Miss

The Damned United, 12am, BBC Two

Here’s a hugely enjoyable 2009 sports drama film directed by Tom Hooper and adapted by Peter Morgan from David Peace's bestselling – and absolutely brilliant - 2006 novel The Damned Utd.

It’s a largely fictional book based on the author's interpretation of Brian Clough's ill-fated tenure as football manager of Leeds United in 1974.

Following his acrimonious split from Derby County and a brief spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, Clough arrived at Elland Road on a wave of controversy, after previously being an outspoken critic of the club, and struggled to find allies among the playing staff.

Michael Sheen is superb in the lead role, and the cast also includes Timothy Spall, Jim Broadbent and Colm Meaney as Clough’s nemesis, Don Revie.
