Speaking about the EP, they say, "It was written together as a band in the studio and we immediately felt we had a brilliant new single with plenty of energy and joy.
"The song is built on a jangly guitar hook and the rhythm section provides a funky backdrop. The vocals have our trademark boy/girl vocals, Ciaran and Gavin both wrote a verse each and the lyrics contain images of light and shade. We think it's reminiscent of the poppier work of Talking Heads."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Our bass player has been named Archivist of the Year for her work on a project for the Lothian Gay and Lesbian Switchboard (the project was called Speaking Out).
Ciaran once went across America as part of a reality show for Nickelodeon.
I have previously had a few poems published in various places and used to write music and culture reviews for online blogs.
How would you describe your music?
I would say that we straddle pop, indie and new wave. Guitars, keyboards and big choruses with both male and female vocals!
Who are your musical inspirations?
With six members there are a lot of influences coming to the table - particular favourites are Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, The National, Kraftwerk, New Order and Deacon Blue.
The first gig you ever went to?
My first gig was Green Day at the SECC in the year 2000. That was their tour of the Warning album.
The first record you ever bought?
Honest answer is The Smurfs Christmas Party. I'm not sure if that particular records still holds up, or has remained politically correct...
Favourite song right now?
I Love a Man in Uniform - Gang of Four.
Favourite lyric of all time?
The National’s Matt Berninger is such a great lyricist, who manages to write these lines that are somewhere between jarring and totally profound. My favourite has always this one from Bloodbuzz Ohio: "I still owe money to the money to the money I owe, I never thought about love, When I thought about home."
If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
All My Friends by LCD Soundsystem. This is the song I’ve shared with my best mates for nearly two full decades - from nights out, parties and more recently weddings. When I put on this song it means thinking about the past, present and future and thinking of those closest to me, so it will always be a part of my life.
