Cornwall band The Ultra Violets have released their new single, Honey Pie. We asked vocalist Perran Nicholls the BIG questions . . .

The song is described as "an aggressive wake up call to the dark side and addictive nature of social media, urging people to stop turning a blind eye to the atrocities we see on our phones in favour of the superficial 'sweet stuff'."

Formed in 2020, The Ultra Violets have played UK festivals such as Boardmasters, Y Not? and Isle of Wight and supported artists such as The Libertines, McFly, The Lottery Winners, The Pigeon Detectives, Space, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Red Rum Club and Feeder.

Speaking about Honey Pie, the band say, "The song is essentially about people only wanting the sweet stuff in life, and sugar coating anything and everything that may be a difficult subject.

"We live in a society where social media is treated like the Holy Bible, simultaneously releasing dopamine hits, a highly addictive drug, when posting pictures for instant gratification.

"It seems there's a lot of wrong in the world right now, but let's all turn a blind eye and keep posting our best lives, sugarcoating the stark contrast of the disarray.

"But in reality, you can hear the 'sirens of hate before the day is dawning' waking you as it simmers through the cracks of your windows in the morning."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .
