Pick of the Day

Louis Theroux: The Settlers, 10.15pm, RTÉ One

Even if you saw this shocking documentary when it was broadcast on the BBC a few weeks back, you might want to watch it again as it almost defies belief.

Fourteen years after his first visit to the West Bank, Louis Theroux spends time with the growing community of invading Israeli religious-nationalist 'settlers' who have stolen land from Palestinians.

In this clip, Louis Theroux explains why he made the documentary:

Since the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, they have been expanding their illegal landgrab by pursuing a campaign of violence against local Palestinian communities.

They’re being supported by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), leaving Palestinians devastated and homeless prisoners in their own land.

Theroux meets prominent settlers, including the 'godmother' of the movement Daniella Weiss, and travels throughout the territory in an attempt at understanding the consequences of their rapacious activity.

It ain’t a pretty sight.

New to Stream

Deep Cover, Amazon Prime

This promises to be a fast-paced action comedy starring Bryce Dallas Howard as Kat, an improv comedy teacher beginning to question if she’s missed her shot at success.

When an undercover cop (Sean Bean) offers her the role of a lifetime, she recruits two of her students (Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed) to infiltrate London’s gangland by impersonating dangerous criminals.

What could possibly go wrong?

Fubar, Netflix

Arnholdt is back!

Arnold Schwarzenegger - who looks fantastic for someone approaching 80 - returns as Luke Brunner, a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement.

Now he and the team are in witness protection.

After his last mission in saving another operative - who just so happened to be his daughter - he's back and face to face with new villains.

This one is an old flame from Luke's past who threatens to destroy the world. Well, if she doesn't destroy his life first.

Later on in this new season, none other than Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss joins the shows as Luke’s old flame.

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, Netflix

This reminds me of the heyday of Nickelodeon, SpongeBob and the rest.

Serving as a continuation of the original series and set decades after it, The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish tells the story of Hazel Wells, a 10-year-old girl who has recently moved to the city of Dimmadelphia because of her father's new job.

On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it is also the first time she has been without her older brother, Antony, who left to start college, leaving her feeling lonely and unsure of herself.

All that changes when her pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal themselves to be no ordinary neighbors but fairy godparents Cosmo and Wanda, who come out of retirement to become Hazel's fairy godparents.
