Pick of the Day

Uncharted with Ray Goggins, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

The first season of this adventure show – where Ray Goggins brings well-known personalities far from their comfort zones – concludes.

This week sees Galway hurler Joe Canning and track and field star Thomas Barr meet Ray deep in the jungle of Colombia, where he greets them with deadly snakes and venomous spiders.

As if that’s not enough to deal with, they also take a flight by paraglider across a valley towards the river below, where they tackle deadly class five river rapids.

Looks like being a spectacular final show.

New or Returning Shows

Flight 149: Hostage of War, 9.00pm, Sky Documentaries

Streaming on NOW

This documentary recounts one of the most extraordinary - and until recently, officially denied - chapters of the Gulf War.

On August 2, 1990, just after Saddam Hussein's (above) Iraqi forces storm Kuwait, a civilian flight unwittingly touches down in the middle of the warzone.

The passengers and crew find themselves trapped, held as hostages by Saddam Hussein, becoming pawns in a rapidly escalating international crisis that will reshape the Middle East.

For over three decades, the British government denied any prior knowledge of the invasion before the plane's ill-fated landing.

Now, new information has come to light to challenge the official narrative and the surviving hostages are taking the British government and BA to court to seek justice and the truth.

Featuring powerful firsthand testimonies from the key players, including the surviving hostages, Kuwaiti resistance fighters, investigative journalist Stephen Davis, and political insiders.

It promises to be an unflinching exploration of a geopolitical scandal, decades in the making.

New to Stream

Snow White, Disney+

The live-action reimagining of the classic 1937 animation lands on Disney+ just three months after its cinema release.

It sees Rachel Zegler (above) portray the titular character, a princess who survives an assassination and begins a journey to reclaim her kingdom from the clutches of the Evil Queen, played by Gal Gadot.

Heigh-ho or ho-hum? It would certainly appear that most fans of the original film aren’t impressed by the more anodyne remake.

Titan: The OceanGate Disaster, Netflix

This documentary film explores the Titan submersible implosion and events leading up to it, told through whistleblower testimony, audio recordings, and footage of the beginnings of OceanGate.

You might remember that this – pretty much inevitable – accident was quite a news story back when it occurred in 2023.

Oceangate CEO Stockton Rush gambled with lives, including his own, by heading deep down into the Atlantic Ocean to explore the ruins of the Titanic in a vessel unlikely to withstand the immense pressure.

Cocaine Air: Smugglers at 30,000 Ft, Netflix

On March 20, 2013, four French nationals are arrested on board a private jet in the Punta Cana airport, Dominican Republic.

They are two ex-air force pilots and two passengers about to take off for Saint-Tropez.

On board is 700 kg of cocaine stored in 26 suitcases.

None of them has the profile of an international drug smuggler and no one knows the identity of the luggage owners.

Who isn't telling the whole truth? Who's involved in the case? And what is hiding behind the mountain of drugs?

Our Times, Netflix

This rom-com sci-fi film starts off in 1966, where visionary physicists Nora and Héctor accidentally travel to 2025, a bewildering future where technology reigns and social norms have shifted.

As Nora thrives in a world that celebrates her talents and empowers women, Héctor struggles to adapt, leaving Nora torn between returning to the past with the man she loves or embracing a future full of promise.
