Pick of the Day

The Rise and Fall of Michelle Mone, 9.00pm, BBC Two

This two-part documentary tells the story of millionaire lingerie entrepreneur Baroness Mone of Mayfair (below), who's embroiled in a PPE scandal which broke in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic.

This opening episode takes a look at Michelle Mone's early life, her breakthrough into the world of business and how she established herself as a celebrity entrepreneur.

A young girl who grew up poor in Glasgow's East End, Mone went on to live a life filled with private jets, mega yachts and opulent homes around the world.

But the price of these luxuries turned out to be much more than the money they cost.

With contributions from former colleagues, advisors, and journalists.

F1: The Academy, Netflix

It’s hardly breaking news to state that motorsports is a world dominated by men.

For example, only five female drivers have officially competed in a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Maria Teresa de Filippis was the first and the Italian made her debut in 1958.

Lella Lombardi is the only woman who scored points in Formula 1. Her best result came in the 1975 Spanish Grand Prix, where she finished sixth.

After Giovanna Amati in 1992, no other woman has attempted to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Until now, that is.

This documentary looks at fifteen young women attempting to break barriers in one of the world's most demanding sports as they race to get a female driver back on the Formula 1 grid.

Captain America: Brave New World, Disney+
