There have been some really good TV shows coming out of Australia in recent years. Hopefully this is another.

Starring Teresa Palmer and Miranda Richardson, this is an adaptation of Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name set on an island of many secrets - the most famous being the disappearance of a young couple decades ago.

When Sophie Honeywell mysteriously inherits a house on the island, it's the fresh start she's been craving, despite the unwelcome reception she receives on arrival.

In part two at 9.50pm, Sophie signs the papers to Connie's house and finds a collection of photographs taken by Connie's late husband Billy, detailing some clues as to what might have happened to Alice and Jack.

Sophie's told she has to host her first family dinner in Connie's house, where she reveals a shocking secret after doing some research on immigration records.

Saturday Cinema

Old, 9.20pm, RTÉ One

Well worth watching if you haven’t seen this before. I have seen it a second time and, while it’s still enjoyable, knowing what happens in the end is a bit of a buzz-kill.

A vacationing family discovers that the secluded beach where they're relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day.

M Night Shyamalan's horror stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Vicky Krieps and Rufus Sewell.

Meet Me in St Louis, 2.25pm, BBC Two

Primarily a Christmas movie, this marvelous and unapologetically sentimental musical can be enjoyed any time and anywhere.

Judy Garland (above), Tom Drake and Margaret O'Brien star and it’s directed by Vincente Minnelli who – like everyone else, really – fell in love with Garland.

As for the story: a job offer tempts a banker to consider uprooting his close-knit family and moving to New York.

His wife and children struggle with the prospect of leaving their friends behind, and are horrified when they realise they might miss out on the 1904 St Louis World's Fair.

Meanwhile, teenage daughter Esther faces the abrupt termination of her romance with the boy next door.

Worth watching just for The Trolley Song and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Two of the greatest musical moments in cinematic history.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, 9.00pm, Channel 4

Timely screening of this action thriller, starring Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell and Simon Pegg, as part two hits the cinemas.

Ethan Hunt and fellow Impossible Missions Force operatives Benji Dunn and Luther Stickell race to acquire two halves of an interlocking 3D key that can regain control of a lethal artificial intelligence.

Is it the best MI film yet? Our reviewer Alan Corr certainly thinks so.
