Pick of the Day

Uncharted with Ray Goggins, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

After last week’s opener offered an odd couple of former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and singer Lyra, this episode of Ray Goggins’ new show will test a group dynamic.

Rap trio Kneecap join Ray in the far north – no, not Culdaff - for a five-day Arctic experience that will test their resilience in a deadly landscape where temperatures can drop below minus 40.

Ray leads them through the Arctic Tundra, towards the symbolic marker of Scandinavian unity and cross border cooperation, the tri-border, where the Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish borders all meet.

Backlash: The Murder of George Floyd, 9.00pm, BBC Two

This documentary tells the story of George Floyd's murder in the USA and how his death became one of the most significant moments in modern history.

It was an appalling event that went viral and sparked a wave of revulsion, leading to protests and demands for equality around the world.

Featuring interviews from the key players involved, including access to members of George Floyd's family and Chief Medaria Arradondo, the Minneapolis Police Chief who testified against one of his own officers.

Burkitt, 9.30pm, TG4

Here’s a creative documentary film about the life of Irish surgeon Denis Burkitt who discovered Burkitt's lymphoma - as told by first-time filmmaker Éanna Mac Cana - a survivor of this cancer.

This enigmatic film tells the remarkable life story of how Dr. Denis Burkitt discovered Burkitt's lymphoma and Mac Cana’s own experience of this cancer.

Dr Burkitt, originally from County Fermanagh, made groundbreaking contributions to cancer research, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa during the 1950s and 60s.

This film is not just a historical retelling but also an intimate portrayal of Éanna Mac Cana’s own journey with this disease, having been diagnosed and treated for Burkitt’s lymphoma in 2017.

What makes this documentary truly unique is that much of it is told through Dr Burkitt’s personal archival films and photographs, combined with Éanna’s recordings from his time in treatment in Belfast City Hospital.

The Repair Shop on the Road, 8.00pm, BBC One

It’s bye-bye to the big shed as the experts travel around the UK once again to restore items and hear the stories behind them.

Will Kirk and Kirsten Ramsay are in Dumfries and Galloway, where they help firefighter Rodger, one of the first responders after the Lockerbie bombing of 1988, with a book of photographs to commemorate the victims of the tragedy.

Dominic Chinea is joined by an Inverness plastering expert to preserve art painted by Polish soldiers on the walls of the attic of Nairn Museum during the Second World War.

Meanwhile, master hatter Jayesh Vaghela sets about restoring a much-loved Dundee United football cap.

Britain's Most Expensive Houses, 9.00pm, Channel 4

Here’s season 3 of a show that goes behind the scenes of top-tier estate agents across the UK. It’s basically Selling Sunset, but without the Californian sunshine.

Here’s where brokers try to seal deals on everything from London's most coveted postcodes to grand country estates and coastal retreats.

Leading broker Josh Marks digs deep into his network to sell an £80 million penthouse in Knightsbridge, Ian Lillicrap showcases two prime properties in Cornwall, including a £4 million coastal home with views of St Ives Bay, and Tim Phillips brings 20-acre Norfolk country estate Lynford Hall, built in 1856, to market.

The wealth on display is disgusting and should inspire abhorrence at the obscene wealth gap that exists these days, but some people like watching these shows.

Inspired by true events, Rematch is a psychological thriller about the historic confrontation between Garry Kasparov, the greatest chess player of all time, and IBM's supercomputer, Deep Blue.

This human versus machine battle promises to change the perception of artificial intelligence. But the trailer doesn't offer much promise.

Christian Cooke stars as Kasparov, while the cast also includes Sarah Bolger and Aidan Quinn.

Race Across the World, 9.00pm, BBC One

It's the halfway point and a 24-hour divide remains between the leaders and those in last place.

Ahead lies a journey of 1,500km to the fifth checkpoint, McLeod Ganj.

Famed for its temples and ashrams, this hill station is not only home to a large Tibetan population but also the 14th Dalai Lama.

The teams will need to ascend nearly 7,000ft into the foothills of the Himalayas to reach their destination.

But that's not their only challenge.

Pangs of homesickness has the contestants questioning whether their need for comfort overrules their desire to race.

Sport

Live UEFA Europa League, 6.00pm, TNT Sports1
Fans of other English Premier League clubs must be raging that eitherTottenham Hotspur or Manchester United are going to get access to next season's Champions League if they win tonight.

Manchester United's Harry Maguire

Whoever wins will be the lowest-placed English club (they're currently 16th and 17th in the table) to qualify for the Champions League - which used to be only for champions back when it was the European Cup.

There's also a trophy up for grabs - but the financials dominate top-tier football these days, so winning a European trophy is probably of lesser significance to the suits at both clubs.

Fans should wave banknotes rather than scarves and flags.

Kick-off is at 8pm, so obviously there's two hours of pre-match coverage ahead of the final, which takes place at San Mames, Bilbao.
