Pro-Palestinian protesters are gathering at Barfüsserplatz in the heart of Eurovision host city Basel, in Switzerland, ahead of tonight's final of the 2025 competition.
Called 'ESCALATE for Palestine' (ESC - Eurovision Song Contest), demonstrators carried flags, banners and signs with messages including "boycott Israel apartheid" and "no stage for genocide".
In contrast to the demonstration in Basel on Wednesday night, which was a silent protest, this evening's demonstrators are vocally expressing their opposition to the situation in Gaza.
Having first gathered at the square, which has a public audience area set up for the Eurovision screening later, at the bottom of the so-called 'Eurovision Street', the protesters are beginning to follow a route through the city centre.
There is a large police and media presence at the demonstration, and the crowd is beginning to walk along to chants of "free free Palestine".
Earlier today, "tens of thousands" took part in a pro-Palestine march in Dublin organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), calling for an end to what they describe as genocide in Gaza.
Protesters marched from the Garden of Remembrance to Leinster House, demanding government action against Israel and marking the 77th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.
The demonstration drew support from over 150 civil society groups, including political parties, trade unions, students, healthcare workers, and teachers from across Ireland.
Saturday night's Eurovision final will see 26 countries battle it out to be crowned winner of the 2025 song contest.
