Filming on the second season of Disney+ comedy drama Rivals will begin later this month, with an extended season of twelve episodes.

Based on the best-selling novel by author Jilly Cooper, the show is set in the fictional county of Rutshire against the backdrop of Cotswolds countryside in England and the high-stakes world of 1980s British television.

The second season will see the return of cast members Aidan Turner and Victoria Smurfit, along with David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Emily Atack, and Annabel Scholey as well as introducing new faces.

The first season of Rivals has become the most successful general entertainment premiere on Disney+ in Ireland to date and has won the Royal Television Society award for writing and an RTS Television Award for supporting actor for Danny Dyer as Freddie Jones.

Executive Producer Jilly Cooper commented: "I'm utterly sex-static filming for the second season is upon us. It was magical working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season and seeing everyone fall head over heels for my beloved characters.

"I’m delighted to be able to work with them again and for everyone to see what further mischief they all get up to!"
