Recent Irish Music Week inductees, For Nina are Holly Owens (guitar, vocals), Ben Watson (guitar), and Max Kaye (drums).

They formed a year ago in college and have released a handful of self-released singles and played Whelan's and The Workman’s Club in Dublin.

Speaking about Hounds, the band say: "The track came out of nothing really. We were just jamming out over the main riff and then everything seemed to click and within half an hour we had the song.

"We wrote the chorus in a way that hopefully highlights the uncertain chaos of being twenty-something. We were in a tricky place with our college course at the time and the feelings manifested themselves within the song. At least those feelings led to something good!"

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Max: I am the tallest member of For Nina. I am a black belt in Karate. I’ve seen Take That five times (not a joke).

How would you describe your music?

If ABBA liked jalapeños on their pizza!

Who are your musical inspirations?

Holly: I’m a big fan of women with guitars, specifically ladies like Laura Marling, Madison Cunningham, Lisa Hannigan and, of course, Bono.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Ben: The first gig I was ever at was Christy Moore, a mutual love of the band. If you ever see Max, ask him to do his impression. It’s pretty convincing!

What was the first record you ever bought?

Ben: I believe my first record was actually bought for me and that was Ocean Eyes by Owl City. Definitely something that you can see in my guitar playing now.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Holly: I’ve been really loving a song called Please Don’t Be So Kind by Marika Hackman. The lyrics are just really well written and hit me straight in the chest first time I heard it recently.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Max: "Another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round, another round 'GHASP’" - Another Round by The Scratch.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Holly: Crazy Dreams by Paul Brady.
