A man who allegedly harassed Jennifer Aniston for two years, before crashing his vehicle through the front gate of the Friends star's Los Angeles home, has been charged with felony stalking and vandalism.

Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48, of New Albany, Mississippi, also faces an aggravating circumstance of making threats of great bodily harm, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said.

Mr Carwyle, who has been in custody since his arrest on Monday, is scheduled to be arraigned today.

His bail has been set at $150,000 (€132,000). It was not immediately clear if he has retained legal representation.

Prosecutors allege that Mr Carwyle began harassing Ms Aniston, referred to only as "Jennifer A." in the criminal complaint, by sending her unwanted voicemails, emails and social media messages starting in 2023.

On Monday afternoon in the upscale Bel Air neighbourhood, Mr Carwyle allegedly drove his vehicle through Ms Aniston's front gate, causing significant damage. A security guard intervened and detained him in the driveway before police arrived and arrested him.

Ms Aniston was reportedly at home during the incident, though no injuries were reported. Her representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.

If convicted, Mr Carwyle faces up to three years in prison.

"My office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorise others, ensuring they are held accountable," Mr Hochman said in a statement.

Ms Aniston purchased the mid-century home on a 3.4-acre Bel Air estate for approximately $21 million (€21.6 million) in 2012, according to Architectural Digest.

The actress rose to international fame for her 10-year run on Friends, for which she won an Emmy Award and received nine additional nominations. She currently stars in The Morning Show on Apple TV+.
