Poker Face, May 8 on Sky Max/NOW

Rian Johnson's comic drama starring Natasha Lyonne alongside a host of established guest stars returns for a second season.

Charlie Cale is back on the run and making her way across the United States one mystery at a time.

From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.

This season, you can look forward to her crossing paths with special guest stars Cynthia Erivo, Katie Holmes, John Mulaney, Awkwafina and many more over twelve new episodes.

As a treat, the first three go out tonight.

New or Returning Shows

Marie Antionette, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Season two of the drama, starring Emilia Schüle, begins in 1783, and the queen elevates Yolande, scandalising some, while a female thief infiltrates the palace.

Elsewhere, the King's brother fraternises with shameless Chartres during a bitter winter.

Nashville, Seo Muid ag Teacht, 9.30pm, TG4

Diane Cannon (below) from Mín Lárach in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht, a singer with a lifelong love of country music is joined by her father, John, and daughter, Kelly, on a musical pilgrimage to Nashville.

Along her journey, Diane will meet Grammy-nominated Woman’s Heart singer Maura O’Connell in the Nashville institution that is the Station Inn.

Maura’s recording an Irish language version of Don’t Let Me Cross Over in John Mock’s studio - where John has produced, among others, James Taylor, the Dixie Chicks and Randy Travis.

She also meets fellow Donegal woman Bernadette Tinney- better known as Irish Bernadette- who has made a life for herself in the music city of Nashville.

New to Stream

Forever, Netflix

Judy Blume's groundbreaking 1975 novel, Forever, is being reimagined for a new generation by Mara Brock Akil.

It’s an epic love story of two Black teens exploring romance and their identities through the awkward journey of being each other’s firsts, set in Los Angeles, 2018.

Karol G: Tomorrow was Beautiful, Netflix

Karol G was told her dream was too big, that she was the wrong gender, and from the wrong place, to ever be a global star.

This documentary traces Karol’s rise from humble beginnings in Medellín, Colombia, to global stardom, as she proves the critics wrong with a historical, record-breaking stadium tour.

It’s a look at the unique determination, talent, and relentless work ethic that has launched Karol G to superstardom and paved a path for future generations of Latinas.

Octopus, Prime Video

Here’s a story about being murdered by your lover, getting lost in Mexico, finding a unicorn, a competitive quilter, 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, and exploring our connection with a possible alien.

In other words, it's a two-part documentary about the octopus. Narrated by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Expect underwater alien strangeness from the start.

The Assessment, Prime Video

Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Olsen head the cast of this sci-fi drama.

In a not-so-distant future where parenthood is strictly controlled, a couple's mysterious seven-day assessment for the right to have a child unravels into a nightmare, forcing them to question the very foundations of society.

Olsen plays Mia, who, along with her other half Aaryan (played by Himesh Patel) are the couple, while Vikander plays Virginia, the quirky inquisitor who calls to their home to assess them for parenthood.

Taskmaster, 9.00pm, Channel 4

The first team task of the season brings the usual awkwardness, but also the joys of Stevie Martin inventing a new way for humans to move and Fatiha El-Ghorri sweeping the lawn with a small broom.

Elsewhere, Rosie Ramsey has a visceral reaction to mental arithmetic, Mathew Baynton strikes his own face with a grape, and Jason Mantzoukas destroys a shower.

Little Alex Horne watches on in awe, as Taskmaster Greg Davies (above) judges it all with his customary wisdom.

The Invisible Woman, 10.10pm, BBC Two

Fact-based period drama, directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes, with Felicity Jones and Kristin Scott Thomas.

A Victorian teacher recalls her former life as an actress, and her relationship with Charles Dickens.

She quickly becomes his lover and the inspiration for his work, but the strain of keeping their affair a secret takes its toll on her.

Gangs of London, 11.50pm, Sky Atlantic

As this violent drama series hurtles to a climax, the true extent of the conspiracy is revealed.
