It is reported that Ferris Bueller's Day Off stars Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck are in negotiations to reunite in a new comedy called The Best Is Yet to Come.

US entertainment trade publication Deadline, which first reported the news, says The Best Is Yet to Come is based on the 2019 French film of the same name, Le Meilleur Reste à Venir.

The film tells the story of two friends who hit the road after a huge misunderstanding to find the estranged son of one of them and to do all the things that life has prevented them from doing.

The Best Is Yet to Come will be directed by Jon Turteltaub (Cool Runnings, While You Were Sleeping) from a script by Allan Loeb (The Dilemma, Just Go with It).

Broderick and Ruck have remained friends since starring in the 1986 comedy classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but this would be the first screen reunion for the actors.

Deadline adds that deals are being finalised with production due to start in the summer. The film distributor Lionsgate declined to comment on the story.
