Back in 2000, the former 2fm DJ's remix of Michael Sembello hit of the same name from the Flashdance movie soundtrack became one of the most-played biggest selling singles of the year in Ireland

Featuring vocalist Mimi Lane, it has now been re-released and will be available to stream for the first time.

The origins of Mark’s track emerged in 1995 when Irish act 4 Rhythm released their own version of Sembello song, which was later remixed by Irish duo, Sound Crowd.

McCabe, like many other Dublin DJs at the time (including co-writer Al Gibbs), was constantly throwing different raps over it.

In 1999, he recorded his own version at The Temple Theatre, a church converted into a club on Dublin’s north side. From here, a twenty-year-old Mark took the live recording to the airwaves of Pulse FM, a pirate radio station based in Dublin where he was a DJ and presenter on the Drivetime slot.

In February of 2000 Maniac 2000 was officially released and hit No. 1 for ten weeks on the Irish chart, topping Madonna, The Backstreet Boys, All Saints and Westlife.
