Kneecap part ways with booking agency IAG

Northern Irish hip-hop group Kneecap have parted ways with the booking agency Independent Artist Group.

The agency confirmed the split to The Hollywood Reporter but did not give a reason for the decision.

The Belfast rap trio, made up of DJ Próvaí, Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap, made headlines earlier this week following their appearance at California's Coachella music festival.

The band performed in front of projections that accused Israel of "committing genocide against the Palestinian people".

The projections also said it is "being enabled by the US government who arm and fund Israel despite their war crimes".

"F*** Israel Free Palestine," another screen read.

Speaking on RTÉ's Drivetime, the group's manager Daniel Lambert praised the band for showing "bravery and conviction" in using their platform.

"If somebody is hurt by the truth, that's something for them to be hurt by, but it’s really important to speak truth. Thankfully the lads are not afraid to do that," he said.

On Friday, the group announced they will not be performing at two of Germany's major summer festivals - Hurricane and Southside - where Green Day are among the headliners.

In a post shared alongside details of three new headline shows in Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg, Kneecap said: "The band Kneecap will not be performing at Hurricane or Southside Festival this year."

German newspaper Die Welt reported the group had been uninvited from the festivals following the controversy over their Coachella performances.
