The track comes from their upcoming second EP, Dinner At Derek's, which is released later this year.
Speaking about the song's lyrical inspirations, lyricist and vocalist Louis Slater says, "Do you ever feel like a bagel? A soft, round but delicious outside with a hole in the middle where all the bits should be?
"Now times that by three and you get Bagel Bagel Bagel. The majority of our lyrical inspirations are a retelling of our inner experiences and in this belter it's paired with humour with lines like 'ain't the mix that makes the bread, hole in the bagel.'
"This song is the perfect way to start the next chapter of Spin Class. It's punchy and energetic with a layer of frustration, yet it's a song that's designed to light you up."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Harry: Sam has six toes on his right foot, Sonny has four overall. My nighttime routine consists of bleaching my hair and reciting the lyrics to the entirety of Kylie Minogue’s catalogue. Louis secretly snogs himself in the mirror when he thinks no one is looking
How would you describe your music?
Sam: One of the main driving forces of Spin Class was definitely inspiration from bands like King Gizzard’s contemporary and forever changing genre-bending tendencies. We wanted to bring a piece of each of us into each track we’ve written and we all have a different spectrum of influences and personal tastes that mesh well together. We’re defined by hooky riffs with violent and abrupt changes that build up into a wall-of-sound finale which is guaranteed to be explosive.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Harry: I definitely listen to as much as possible. Growing up, I was a proper little emo kid who said he was a metal head. Rock/metal/alternative/emo is an area of music I always revisit and will always be a big part of my musical DNA but I love anything from 90s hip hop to Chopin and everything in between. Music inspires me more when it makes you feel that something rather than what it sounds like and that’s what helps me know when we’re onto something good as a band when we are writing. I get that feeling, and I see the boys get that feeling too and we just run with it. I do find myself approaching how I write the drum parts for Spin Class leaning more towards a Dave Grohl/Taylor Hawkins style. I used to batter my bedroom pillows to Foos records constantly as a kid, so definitely makes sense. But if I really had to put it down to one particular artist, it’s gotta be Vengaboys.
What’s the first record you ever bought?
Sonny: Thriller by Michael Jackson.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Louis: Motörhead, babyyyy, I was about 12 years old and it’s safe to say a defining moment.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Louis: I’ve been blasting I Can Do What I Want by Mei Semones. Her blend of jazz and 2000s indie topped with her VOICE! It’s scratching an itch deep in the crevice of my armpit, I never knew existed.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Louis: "Karma’s a bitch, I should have known better. If I had a wish, I would have never effed around". I feel like Jojo Siwa highlights an innate and complex cosmic truth that can be so hard to put into words and yet the simplicity of her delivery paints a vivid portrait that feels relatable and makes me reflect on how I show up in the world.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sonny: You Suffer by Napalm Death.
