Netflix has released the trailer for the Ireland-filmed second season of its supernatural comedy series Wednesday.

Wednesday, which follows the (mis)adventures of the Addams family teenager, was filmed at Ashford Studios in Co Wicklow last year.

It stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.

Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Joonas Suotamo, and Thandiwe Newton are among the guest stars for the new season.

Releasing the trailer, Netflix said: "Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await.

"This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem.

"Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.

"Creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return for the spine-tingling second season of Wedensday, alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton."

Part one of the new season will premiere on Netflix on 6 August, and part two will premiere on 3 September.
