"What inspired my new song was falling deeply for someone for the first time and knowing this person and feeling was different," she says.

The five-track Kay Valerie EP "tells a deeply personal story through the lens of Kendal’s imagined alter ego".

"Kay Valerie is the name I always dreamt of using if I ever made it as a singer-songwriter," Kendal says. "Growing up, I used to practice my signature, pretending I was signing autographs and merch with that name!"

Kendal adds, "She’s on a journey of discovery. She falls in love, she gets her heart broken, but she also learns about herself - who she is when she’s with someone and who she is when she’s alone.

"I think we all go through those moments where we question our feelings, our choices, and whether love really is what we thought it would be. Listeners will get to know her, her experiences, and hopefully, see a bit of themselves in her story."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I’m young, a voice for future generations and not afraid to voice my opinion. I’m a Libra and can be incredibly indecisive at the best of times. I think decisiveness comes with confidence.

How would you describe your music?

Americana, authentic and free. I like to move with my sound and music, to see where it takes me.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My feminist icon would be Stevie Nicks. I think she’s a real idol to young people and old. She’s not afraid to get her heart broken and pick herself up again. U2 is my favourite band because their resemble the emotions of the world through music and that’s simply it. I also adore Ashe, known originally as Ashlyn Wilson from the States. She’s a vibe.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Westlife at Croke Park.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Taylor Swifts Fifteen. I used to listen to this record on repeat.

What’s your favourite song right now?

With or Without You by U2.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"We’ll make it work to make it out of here".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Oh No by Mossy.

Where can people find your music/more information?

Spotify and YouTube Music.
