Acclaimed Irish band Fontaines D.C. will release a deluxe edition of their acclaimed fourth album Romance featuring a new song, a previously unreleased live version of Starburster, and recent single It's Amazing To Be Young.
The band headline the All Together Now festival in Waterford on 1 August and kick off their biggest North American tour to date this week in Seattle.
The new stripped back version of Starburster sees the band melding their biggest song to date with David Lynch's In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator Song), which originally featured on the soundtrack of Lynch’s 1977’s Eraserhead.
Review: Fontaines D.C.: weirder, darker, poppier
Speaking about the band’s new song, Fontaines guitarist Conor Curley said, "Before You I Just Forget is a song that started with a vision of this really blown-out sound, something that heaved and shifted with new details becoming apparent every time you would listen.
"Like never being able to step in the same river twice, the song morphs and changes finishing with an incredible string part by Grian."
Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor, Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums) headline the All Together Now festival in Waterford on 1 August and kick off their biggest North American tour to date this week in Seattle, which will see the band play three sold=out shows at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on 16 to 18 May.
They will also perform to 100,000 people across four sold=out UK outdoor headline shows this summer, including a 45,000-capacity event at London’s Finsbury Park on 5 July alongside events in Manchester, Cardiff and Newcastle.
They have also played headline dates around the world, including Europe, Asia, Australia and North America alongside a run of high-profile festival appearances.
Romance was certified gold (100,000 sales) in the UK and platinum in Ireland (15,000 sales).
Fontaines D,C. also won this year’s RTÉ Choice Music Prize at home, a BRIT Award and were nominated for two GRAMMYs.
