Don’t Miss

Licorice Pizza, 11.00pm, BBC Two

I love coming-of-age movies. And while this is no Breaking Away, it’s still a little gem.

Paul Thomas Anderson both wrote and directed, it stars Alana Haim (of the rock group Haim) and Cooper Hoffman in their film debuts, and also features Sean Penn, Tom Waits and Bradley Cooper.

It’s set in the San Fernando Valley in 1973, where 25-year-old Alana Kane (Haim) is going through the motions as a photographer's assistant.

Then 15-year-old child star Gary Valentine (Hoffman) makes romantic overtures toward her.

Despite the age gap, she agrees to go to dinner with him.

Shirley Bassey at the BBC: Volume 2, 9.10pm, BBC Four

This kicks off a night of Shirley Bassey-related programming.

It’s a selection of performances from the archives, ranging from pop favourites to film themes and songs from the shows, taken from a selection of programmes she appeared on over the years.

It also features clips from her own hugely popular TV show that ran throughout the 1970s.

Among the classic songs featured here are My Way, The Way We Were, Copacabana and Hey Jude.

Followed at 10.40pm by Shirley Bassey at the Royal Albert Hall 1974, then the 2009 documentary Dame Shirley Bassey: The Girl from Tiger Bay (11.25pm), and at 12.20am there’s Dame Shirley Bassey: Electric Proms 2009.
